Our eighth graders visited the GCISD Technology Education and Career Center this week to get a first-hand look at our Career and Technical Education programs. During their tour, students had a chance to see 14 interactive stations of CTE instruction and hands-on learning in action. The goal is to inform their choices before they meet with their counselors to develop their four-year academic plans.

Glenhope Elementary School second graders had a special visitor this week: the Dallas Mavericks mascot Champ! Champ was there because second grade teacher and Mavs fan, Brittany Cohen has developed a partnership with player Derek Lively II. Since the team’s season began this week, the second grade connected Tuesday’s curriculum to Mavericks-themed lessons and a special visit from Champ to celebrate their learning.

Update (October 22, 4:45 p.m.): The Colleyville Heritage High School Varsity football away game against Mansfield Summit High School has been rescheduled to 5 p.m. on Friday, October 24, due to potential weather. The game location has also been changed to Vernon Newsom Stadium (3700 E Broad St, Mansfield, TX 76063).

Original Post (October 21, 3:43 p.m.): Due to the threat of severe weather Friday evening, the Grapevine High School Varsity Football Game scheduled for October 24 has been moved up a day! The game will now be on Thursday, October 23, at 7 p.m.. The game is still at Mustang-Panther Stadium.

We are aware that it is senior night, and this is an important and special moment for our students and their families. Moving this game ensures all students receive the recognition they deserve instead of the potential cancellation due to the weather.

We ask seniors and their escorts to report to the North end zone at 6 p.m. so staff is able to check you in, line you up, and recognize your student's commitment to GHS.

Today was Literacy Lunch at all elementary campuses, one of the many fun ways that GCISD’s Nutrition Services connects learning to the cafeteria. Students enjoyed taco pizza inspired by the book “Dragons Love Tacos,” which Superintendent Dr. Brad Schnautz read at Glenhope Elementary. One lucky student from each grade level at elementary schools who enjoyed a lunch plate received a copy of the book, and another was donated to the schools. Taco ‘bout a great day!
