Happy 25th birthday to the Grapevine-Colleyville Association of Retired School Employees! This dedicated group of former educators continues to support our schools in many ways, including contributions to our Back-to-School Fair and grants for teachers. Join in celebrating their special milestone.

A new bronze wolf statue was unveiled this morning at the front of Cross Timbers Middle School, compliments of the school’s PTA. Commissioned artist Linda Moss worked directly with students last school year by visiting art classes to explain the process. Later, all CTMS students had an opportunity to add their thumbprints on the cast, permanently leaving their mark at the school.

Join us for Friday Night Lights as the Colleyville Heritage High School Panthers play their varsity football home opener tonight at Mustang Panther Stadium. For ticket information and stadium policies, visit GCISD athletics: www.gcisd.net/page/athletics.

GCISD’s Bilingual Services invites emergent bilingual families to their information session tomorrow, Thursday, September 4, from 10-11:30 a.m. at the JPS Building behind Timberline Elementary. Come meet the team and learn about transportation, attendance, grades, volunteering, and how to use the district’s communication tools such as Skyward, Rooms, and district as well as campus websites.

Thank you to Bohemian Bull in Grapevine for serving as this year’s dinner sponsor for our communications interns at Friday Night Lights. These student interns operate the cameras and video board equipment, and come early and stay late to create a top-notch game production for all our fans to enjoy.

Shoutout to the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation for sponsoring Junior Captains at home football games. Bransford Elementary School kindergartener Brewer Johnson and Colleyville Elementary School second grader Adrian “Koda” Zavros did a great job delivering the game ball and joining team captains during the coin toss at last week’s game.

Today our students and staff were sporting college gear in celebration of College Colors day! In GCISD, this day is one of many ways we help students get excited about their future by raising college awareness.
