It’s Experience Design Week at Silver Lake Elementary and this year’s theme is “Decades.” Three times a year, the school connects a theme into the standards and curriculum lessons already scheduled for the week. To make it more fun, staff and families decorate the hallways based on the theme. What a great experience!

Thank you to the Colleyville Chamber of Commerce for inviting Superintendent Dr. Brad Schnautz to speak at today’s luncheon about GCISD’s priorities, recent highlights and how GCISD prepares students for their future. Accompanying him was Colleyville Heritage High School senior Landyn Blueitt who shared her student journey and how her GCISD experience has provided her the skills for a bright future. #WeAreGCISD

GCISD’s Transportation Department had the longest line at Grapevine Mills’ “Touch a Truck” event Saturday, September 27. Families were able to board a GCISD bus to check it out, and also were able to see transportation’s other large vehicles. Thank you to our team for giving up their Saturday to partner in this community event!

Yesterday and today, 360 Career and Technical Education seniors practiced one more important skill for landing jobs: interviewing. GCISD’s CTE program started this event last year to help students practice those soft skills that will open doors to future success. Thank you to all of our community volunteers who participated.

At last night’s meeting, Trustees recognized GCISD’s 19 National Merit Semifinalists. They received this honor for being among the highest-scoring students, representing less than one percent of seniors, who took the PSAT/NMSQT in November 2024. Semifinalists can continue in the competition to possibly be named a National Merit Finalist and earn one of 6,930 scholarships. Congratulations!

Shout out to Bear Creek Elementary School special education assistant Kent Bushart for two big wins at the state fair for his paper artistry. Kent’s Christmas table decoration won the Director’s Award, which is selected from all of the Arts & Crafts entries for superior craftsmanship and creativity. His other entry, depicting space, won Best in Show in the State Fair Category theme, which this year is Texas Shines Bright.

Thank you to Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation Vice President of Community Relations Chelsea Rose for giving our Junior Captains a warm welcome.

Yesterday, Timberline Elementary School had a visit from Cliburn in the Classroom. The program already visited Bransford Elementary School and Colleyville Elementary School. In October, they will visit Heritage Elementary School.
