GCISD has received an A for Superior Achievement in Finance, the top rating awarded by the Financial Integrity Rating System of Texas (FIRST). The district has received this distinction 24 consecutive years, every year since it was first awarded in the 2002-2003 school year.
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) issues the ratings, which are based on 20 indicators of sound financial management practices and continuous improvement. Some of those indicators include submitting annual financial reports by the scheduled deadlines, receiving an unmodified opinion on financial statements from external independent auditors, and being in compliance with payments to debt agreements, to name a few.
This A rating in finance comes on the heels of GCISD receiving an A Rating in TEA’s accountability system, along with 59 campus distinctions. Thank you to the Finance Department on their diligent work in financial management.
