Texas Music Educators Association

Eleven GCISD students from Colleyville Heritage High School and Grapevine High School were named 2026 All-State Musicians by the Texas Music Educators Association (TMEA). Less than 1,900 students are named to this honor, placing GCISD students in the top 3% of all high school musicians in Texas.

The road to becoming an All-State Musician begins in the fall with more than 70,000 high school music students across the state auditioning in their TMEA region. Individuals perform selected music for a panel of judges who rank each instrument or voice part. A select group of musicians advances to compete against musicians from other regions in their TMEA Area. The highest-ranking musicians judged at the TMEA Area competitions qualify to perform in one of 18 Texas All-State ensembles.

"This is truly an honor that represents dedication, talent and thousands of hours of practice,” GCISD Director of Fine Arts Dr. Paul Sikes stated. “Our all-state students have learned to set a long-term goal, work for that goal, and then achieve it. These skills will serve them well in everything they do for the rest of their lives.”
