Mandy Ozuna

The GCISD Board of Trustees approved the recommendation of Mandy Ozuna as the district’s new Director of Counseling at its March 25 Regular Meeting.

Ozuna began her career in education as an elementary teacher in Grand Prairie ISD. After five years in the classroom, she went on to serve as a math and science strategist and elementary school counselor for the district. In 2014, Ozuna joined Grapevine-Colleyville ISD as a high school counselor at Grapevine High School, and then worked as a licensed professional counselor in the private sector and an intervention counselor in Eagle Mountain-Saginaw ISD.

Ozuna returned to GCISD in 2020 as a student advocate specialist at Colleyville Middle School. Since 2021, she has served as the district’s Coordinator of Student Engagement and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support.

“Mandy’s experience serving at all levels within education, coupled with her focus on supporting student and staff growth, are some of the many reasons she will make a positive impact in her new role,” Superintendent Dr. Brad Schnautz said. “She has a heart for helping students and families, and I’m excited for her to continue serving our GCISD community.”

Her community outreach spans to organizations outside of the school district through her work with National Charity League and local churches within the community to provide education and support to families. Ozuna has also led numerous district and campus presentations, sharing her expertise and guidance with students and parents.

“My greatest professional joy has always come at the hands of being a part of the world of counseling and working with students and their families,” Ozuna shared. “This opportunity brings everything full circle to be able to lead other counselors in their support roles and enhance programming for students across the district. I am truly excited for this new journey and the continued opportunity to serve GCISD providing leadership, advocacy and collaboration with all our campuses.”

Ozuna earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, and a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Argosy University. She will begin her new role in July.
