2026 Best Communities for Music Education

GCISD has been honored as one of the Best Communities for Music Education for 2026. This is the 12th year GCISD has received the award, which recognizes districts and schools across the country for their exemplary dedication to music education and ongoing efforts to ensure equitable access to music learning as part of a well-rounded education.

“This is a recognition that our entire GCISD community can take pride in,” said Director of Fine Arts Dr. Paul Sikes. “Our students thrive because of their dedication and talent, under the guidance of our exceptional music educators who inspire them each day and the unwavering support of our district, families and community.”

Recipients of the 2026 BCME Awards were selected through a comprehensive application and review process that evaluates key indicators, including instructional time, participation rates, facilities and community support. To uphold the program’s rigor and credibility, all applications were independently reviewed and verified by a leading research and evaluation firm specializing in education and the arts.

The award is presented by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation.
