On Tuesday, April 7, the Colleyville Heritage and Grapevine High School boys and girls golf teams competed at the UIL 5A District 6 championship, which took place at Oakmont Country Club. Both GHS and CHHS girls teams qualified for the regional championship, with GHS winning the district title and CHHS finishing as the runners-up.
GHS sophomore Megan Marais won the girls individual district championship, shooting a 68, including six birdies during her final round of play. Eight golfers from GCISD teams finished in the top 10, which earned all-district honors.
GHS boys golfer, senior Steve Suges, finished as the boys individual district runner-up, shooting eight birdies over 36 holes of play. Both Suges and CHHS senior Noah McPhillips qualified for regionals as individuals.
The UIL 5A Region 1 tournament will take place at Lake Ridge Country Club in Lubbock, with the boys event to be held April 13-14 and the girls competing on April 15-16.
