On Thursday, February 19, Grapevine High School girls basketball team defeated Everman High School 32-24 and won the Area championship. The Lady Mustangs will now advance to the regional semifinals of the UIL 5A Division 2 state playoffs
“I am so proud of the way our group has battled the past two games. Our girls never give up, they fight every minute of every game, and she sets that tone for our team,” said GHS girls head basketball coach Micah Garoutte on this accomplishment. “All of our players have worked extremely hard to get to where we are. The success everyone is seeing now is a byproduct of the work each one of these student-athletes put in in the summer and fall.”
The Lady Mustangs will take on Lubbock Monterey High School on Tuesday, February 24, at Abilene Wylie High School (4502 Antilley Rd, Abilene), with tipoff time set for 7:00 p.m.
“There isn't a more deserving group of kids to get to advance this far in the playoffs and hopefully beyond,” added Garoutte.
