On Saturday, February 7, the Colleyville Heritage High School and Grapevine High School wrestling teams competed at the UIL Region 2-5A Wrestling Championship, where four GCISD athletes qualified for the state meet and three qualified as alternates. The GHS boys wrestling team won the regional championship for the first time since 1998 to advance to the UIL 5A state championship.
GHS sophomore Jose Uscanga and junior Will Mason won their respective weight divisions at the regional event. GHS Head Coach Scott Tischer was also named the Region 2-5A Coach of the Year.
