On Saturday, January 31, the district’s elementary P.E. teachers hosted a first-ever district-wide cup stacking competition for third, fourth and fifth grade GCISD students. All elementary schools in the district were represented and medals were awarded in each event. Golden GOAT (greatest of all time) trophies were also awarded to the student who posted the best time in each of the competition’s events, with Glenhope fifth grader Zayden Hirani sweeping all three honors.
Throughout the school year, elementary campuses host cup-stacking events in P.E. classes to promote hand-eye coordination, brain activation, fitness, teamwork, speed and loads of fun. Stackers race against the clock competing in relays to stack cups. The P.E. classes have also connected the competitions to World Sport Stacking Association (WSSA) STACK UP events to break worldwide records.
