Seven CHHS students are advancing to the Texas HOSA State Leadership Conference in Corpus Christi, March 24-26. They secured their ticket to state after competing in the Texas HOSA Area 5 Spring Leadership Conference competition held Friday and Saturday January 16-17, in Killeen. Only the top three winners in each event advance to state competition. HOSA, which stands for Health Occupations Students of America, is the student future health professionals association of Texas.
The team of juniors Ricardo Burciaga Ichikawa, Anuj Chakraborty, Aayan Hasam, Kayla Hyun, Boaz Lee and Sahan Mallampati placed second in MRC (Medical Reserve Corps) Partnership. In this event, teams prepare a portfolio highlighting partnership activities that improve public health, increase emergency response capabilities, and strengthen the resiliency of local communities.
Sophomore Srianshi Donepudi placed third in Clinical Specialty. For this event, students develop a career portfolio, a video demonstration of a selected skill common to the chosen health career, and a live presentation for the judges.
Congratulations to these future health professionals!
