Grapevine Middle School has been named a 2025-2026 Purple Star Campus, an honor created by the 86th Texas Legislature and awarded by the Texas Education Agency to recognize schools that show their support and commitment to meeting the unique needs of military-connected students and their families.

GMS has created a welcoming school culture for military connected families through a variety of activities, resources and schoolwide celebrations.

The school has on-campus military liaisons that provide support systems, including relocation information, academic planning resources and links to state and national organizations that assist military families moving into GMS or during deployments.

Schoolwide celebrations in support of military families are also held throughout the school year. In November, the school hosts a Veterans Day Tribute Assembly. During April, which is Month of the Military Child, GMS organizes student-led activities and celebrations such as Purple Up! Days to show support and appreciation for military families. The school also enjoys a close partnership with the Grapevine members of the Captain Molly Corbin Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) to celebrate and thank military families of both students and staff.

As a recipient, GMS can proudly display their Purple Star Designation on campus or on their school website.

The distinction is a two-year designation and remains in place for the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 school years. The school previously received the award for the 2023-2024 school year, which remained effective through the 2024-2025 school year.
