GCISD Collegiate Academy and Grapevine High School competed in their respective divisions at the UIL Academic state competition, held May 19-20, and returned with a number of awards.
CA students Lucy Allen, Benjamin Capps, Sutton Jaeger and Isabelle Miori finished in third place as a team in the UIL 3A current issues and events category. Capps also walked away with the bronze in social studies.
In UIL 5A, the GHS team of Eugenia Jin, Piyush Mallick, Jonathan Wang and Darren Yang finished third overall in the number sense category. Mallick also won the overall mathematics competition and finished as the state runner-up in the calculator category, while Manar Elmahi won the silver in poetry interpretation.
