Gold Seal winning artwork

Five GCISD students were named All-State Artists after their artwork received the top rating of IV at the 2025 Texas High School Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE), held Saturday, April 26, at San Marcos High School. Artwork that receive the competition’s top rating are eligible for consideration for the Gold Seal Award, and a piece by Grapevine High School senior Kate Lee went on to also receive that distinction, considered the highest honor in VASE.

Lee’s “Recurring Seats” oil paint on canvas will now be a part of a traveling exhibition across the state with other Gold Seal winners. The exhibition will conclude in November at the annual conference of the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA), which organizes the annual VASE competition.

Congratulations to GCISD’s talented artists!
