Today is School Custodian Appreciation Day! Our custodial crew keeps our facilities clean, healthy and ready for learning. Join us in celebrating them.

GCISD’s Transportation Department had the longest line at Grapevine Mills’ “Touch a Truck” event Saturday, September 27. Families were able to board a GCISD bus to check it out, and also were able to see transportation’s other large vehicles. Thank you to our team for giving up their Saturday to partner in this community event!

Yesterday and today, 360 Career and Technical Education seniors practiced one more important skill for landing jobs: interviewing. GCISD’s CTE program started this event last year to help students practice those soft skills that will open doors to future success. Thank you to all of our community volunteers who participated.

Shout out to Bear Creek Elementary School special education assistant Kent Bushart for two big wins at the state fair for his paper artistry. Kent’s Christmas table decoration won the Director’s Award, which is selected from all of the Arts & Crafts entries for superior craftsmanship and creativity. His other entry, depicting space, won Best in Show in the State Fair Category theme, which this year is Texas Shines Bright.

Great job to our Junior Captains at Friday night’s game: Bransford Elementary School second grader Makayla Richardson and O.C. Taylor Elementary School fifth grader Raydaan Darediya. Yesterday, Timberline Elementary School had a visit from Cliburn in the Classroom. The program focuses on classical music and, in this lesson, students learned how composers around the world incorporate their countries’ traditions and sounds to classical music. The program already visited Bransford Elementary School and Colleyville Elementary School. In October, they will visit Heritage Elementary School.

We had a great turnout at College and Career Night yesterday! Join us in showing appreciation to our GCISD counseling team and campuses for hosting this annual event to help students prepare for their futures.

Today is National Teaching Assistants Day! On this day we celebrate our dedicated paraprofessionals who play a crucial role in supporting teachers in the classroom. They assist with lesson preparation, work one-on-one with students and support teachers in many ways to help our students succeed! #WeAreGCISD

Tomorrow is GCISD’s College and Career Night for parents and students. Come out to connect with 130+ representatives from universities, community colleges, technical schools and the military. The event is from 6-7:30 p.m. at Grapevine High School.

Bransford Elementary School music teacher Ashley Benson was selected by the North Texas Performing Arts as their Outstanding Elementary Performing Arts Educator. She was surprised with the news last night during rehearsal. The award celebrates elementary educators who go above and beyond to inspire students and provide meaningful arts education experiences. Congratulations!

We kicked off the fall 2025 Leadership GCISD last night! The class includes parents, staff, community members and business leaders who will gain a valuable understanding of the district. GCISD’s Academics Team led the first session and shared how the district supports high-quality instruction and student learning.
