Bridges’ Career Day was today! In addition to participating in mock interviews, students met with representatives from colleges, trade schools and a variety of professions. They also had professional pictures taken and were provided feedback on their resumes.

On Tuesday, ASPIRE fifth graders at Glenhope Elementary School made learning even more fun with a Harry Potter-themed day. Throughout the day, students put their learning to work on assignments such as solving math riddles, cryptogram reading/language arts challenges and more!

Today, we honor Joey Mickey Deupree, one of two 2025 Walk of Honor inductees:
Deupree served in the Navy before moving to Colleyville with his wife, Jane, in 1966. He still lives in the home he built for his family. Deupree worked for the Federal Aviation Administration and upon moving to Colleyville, he immediately became involved in the community and the schools. He served as Chairman of the Colleyville Planning and Zoning Commission, was a member of the Advisory Council for Community Education, was a longtime Lion’s Club member and was a deacon and teacher in his church. He was also active in the Colleyville PTA, including serving as president in the late 1960s before being elected to the GCISD School board where he served as President.

STEMapalooza Day at Cannon Elementary School was Friday, October 31. Students used their science, technology, engineering and math know-how to solve challenges—from kindergarten and first grade students programming little red robots to drive to grandma’s house and avoid the wolf to fifth graders becoming software engineers to design roller coasters with safety in mind. What fun!
The game ball at Friday Night Lights was delivered by Junior Captains Kaleb Carey, Grapevine Elementary School fifth grader, and Noah Nguyen, Glenhope Elementary School kindergartener. LeAnn Brown, president of the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation, welcomed them to the game. Thank you to GCEG for sponsoring the Junior Captains program!

It’s the last day of Red Ribbon Week, which every year is October 23-31. Schools spread the message of living drug-free lives and held many themed dress-up days throughout the week to showcase alternative ways to have fun.

Today and tomorrow, volunteers from the Grapevine Garden Club are reading the book “Trees” to third graders across the district. This is an annual tradition and after the event, the Grapevine Parks and Recreation donates the book to each third grade classroom.

On Friday, October 24, Cross Timbers Middle School had the privilege of welcoming three Medal of Honor recipients, all who served the U.S. Army in the Vietnam War, ahead of the AirPower Foundation's Sky Ball Gala last weekend. Thank you to Patrick H. Brady, Donald E. Ballard and Robert M. Patterson for sharing their stories and inspiring our students.
Grapevine High School students applied the knowledge they have learned in environmental science, forensics, engineering and drone technology and health to respond to a “Disasterville” simulation activity brought to the campus yesterday by the Army National Guard. While wearing virtual reality glasses to provide a more immersive experience, they successfully saved the day for a mock town struck by three natural disasters by applying their skills.
The Grapevine High School Mustang Band once again impressed at another Post Malone-related event! On Saturday, October 25, they gave an unforgettable performance at the American Cancer Society’s 52nd Annual Cattle Baron's Ball at Southfork Ranch. Congratulations!

Why were students and staff at some elementary campuses dressed up in 1950s attire yesterday? It was to celebrate the 50th day of school!

Congratulations again to GCISD’s National Merit Commended students! They were recognized by the Board at last night’s meeting for earning this distinction by placing among the 50,000 highest-scoring students in the nation on the 2024 Preliminary SAT//National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test.

Students of all ages toured the GCISD Ag Barn on Saturday, October 25. The Grapevine-Colleyville FFA organized the “Open Barn” event so that students could learn about the program, tour the barn, see the animals and play games. To make the event even more fun, attendees were also invited to wear a Halloween costume.

Glenhope Elementary School has chess champions! At the Tarrant County Chess Club’s tournament hosted on Saturday, October 18, fourth grader Namish Gupta won the first place individual trophy in the Rated U500 event, which is for beginners registered with the United States Chess Federation. In the non-registered K-3 event, third graders Archie Lowe and Ari Aldarkazali, known as “Team Glenhope,” won first place. Individually, Archie won first place and Ari finished in third.

Big cheers for Grapevine Elementary School fifth grader Oliver Chan and Timberline Elementary School first grader Charlotte Maxwell who were the Junior Captains at last week’s varsity football game. Joe Garcia from the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation, which sponsors the Junior Captains program, welcomed our students to the game.
