Heritage Elementary School teacher Joe Parthemore received a surprise visit today from H-E-B representatives to announce that he is an Excellence in Education Award Finalist! The award recognizes educators who exemplify passion and commitment; innovation and creativity in the classroom; and professional growth and development. Statewide winners will be announced in May.

The Glenhope Elementary School and Cross Timbers Middle School Destination Imagination teams crushed it at regionals and are advancing to the Lone Star Finals state tournament, April 10-11! At DI, teams tackle science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics (STEAM) challenges and student teams present their solutions live at the tournament. Two Grapevine High School seniors and DI alums were also recognized with $1,000 scholarships.

Bransford second graders loved reading children’s books by award-winning and best-selling author Susan Steven Crummel and when they found out that she lived in the DFW area, they immediately said, “field trip!” Instead, the author came to the campus on Friday thanks to a collaboration with the school’s PTA and did presentations for all grade levels.

At last night’s Board meeting, Trustees recognized students from Colleyville Heritage High School and Grapevine High School for their recent achievements. The evening began with a recognition of the UIL Swim & Dive state qualifiers, which competed at state this weekend and had a 2x state champion. Next, UIL wrestling state qualifiers were recognized for an outstanding season. Grapevine High School Cheer was honored for their silver medal win at the recent UIL Spirit State Championships. Congratulations to all of our student honorees!

Today we joined the GCISD PTAs in celebrating Founders Day! The celebration was to honor the founders of PTA, but also to honor our amazing volunteers who continue their legacy. Congratulations to everyone receiving special awards and recognition! Thank you to our GCISD Career and Technical Education culinary students for the delicious breakfast and to leadership students for serving as greeters and helping during the event.



Statebound! This morning our community, students and staff gathered for a send-off for the Colleyville Heritage High School and Grapevine High School Swim & Dive state qualifiers as they head to state! Let’s wish them luck in bringing home the gold!
Leadership GCISD met for their second session of the semester last night. The class first heard about GCISD student services, counseling and health services, and then toured athletics, fine arts and GCISD’s Career and Technical Education facilities.

Bransford Elementary School scored a visit from the Grapevine High School boys soccer team on Friday, February 13. The team gave out high fives during morning arrival and then visited classrooms to read aloud to classes portions of the book “Soccer on Sunday,” which is Bransford’s One School One Book this school year.


Guess who stopped by to visit GCISD Career and Technical Education staff today in honor of CTE Month? It was Tinkerbell, a mini highland cow from Little Moo Ranch. GCISD’s CTE program has remarkable Animal Science and Agricultural programs of study, in addition to other pathways that prepare students with skills for the workforce and post-secondary education. Thank you as well to the community member who brought delicious pastries!

GCISD’s Bilingual Services invites families to attend a Parent Information Session about the tests that students need to pass to demonstrate English proficiency in order to be reclassified and what families can do at home to help. The session will be held from 12:30-2 p.m., Thursday, February 12. Don’t miss our Community Engagement Event with the Texas Education Agency from 12:30-2 p.m., Wednesday, February 18.
