Silver Lake Elementary students were selected to take center stage at the Get Your Teach On national professional development conference held June 29-July 2 at the Gaylord Texan Resort. They were part of showcasing what a model lesson looks like before teachers attending from across the country. Way to demonstrate excellence!

Congratulations to the MisGnomers, a team of Cross Timbers Middle School sixth graders who recently competed at the Destination Imagination Global Finals 2025 and received the Renaissance Award. They competed in the engineering challenge and their project was one of 21 recognized for demonstrating outstanding skill in the areas of design, engineering, execution or performance.

Congratulations to the Colleyville Heritage High School and Grapevine High School honor bands. Both bands advanced from area to the state semifinals of the Texas Music Educators Association’s competition. Semifinals, as well as the finals, will be in San Antonio at the end of July.

This morning was another great start as GCISD welcomed our newest group of professional hires. Among them were GCISD graduates or parents of alumni who have attended our schools! #WeAreGCISD

Collegiate Academy, which in 2024 was named a National Blue Ribbon School, has a supportive team of teachers who guide students every step of the way, with a strong history of success. The first Gold Card session of the school year is set. Residents 65+ years are invited to attend at 9 a.m., Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at the Administration Building. At last night’s Board Meeting, we had the honor of recognizing impressive achievements. Congratulations to UIL Academics state qualifiers from Collegiate Academy and Grapevine High School, Texas History Day state honorees from iUniversity Prep, GHS Softball which finished as UIL 5A Division 2 Semifinalist, and GHS Baseball for winning their second consecutive state championship.

Today, our Extended Day Program campers had an exciting “Race Through Time” as part of this week’s fun-filled theme that focused on ancient times. This summer, GCISD’s Nutrition Services is once again hosting “Cooking with Chef Jason” camps where rising third-sixth grade students learn how to cook a variety of tasty dishes. This year’s menu includes homemade pasta with butter sauce, apple tarts, focaccia bread and more. The classes are taught by GCISD’s Culinary Trainer Chef Jason Aronen.

Great news from our music programs: Colleyville Heritage High School and Grapevine High School concert bands took the top places at the Texas Music Educators Association’s regional competition on Thursday. CHHS finished as the top band and GHS was awarded second place! Both are now advancing to Area Competition in a few weeks.

Summer is here, but learning never stops for our incredible educators. Our teachers, campus leaders and instructional teams are diving into three days of enriching professional learning at ActivatED 2025. These sessions, based on teacher feedback, are packed with curriculum-specific topics, ideas to engage families and students, and much more! #WeAreGCISD

Today our GCISD Council of PTAs hosted a great tradition: the annual District Appreciation Luncheon. It was a tasty lunch, but even better was the fellowship everyone enjoyed together. #WeAreGCISD

Congratulations to iUniversity Prep sixth grader Evan Dietrick, who was among 125 young students from across Texas to complete the Lone Star Leadership Academy Alumni Council. As part of this leadership skill-building program, Evan led a GoFundMe effort that raised $2,350 for a local cat rescue. What an inspiring young leader!
