Today was the GCISD Transition Adult Program (TAP) graduation! Our hearts were full as we celebrated these students and all of their hard work to be successful in their post-secondary endeavors. Congratulations to these amazing graduates, and thank you to our TAP teachers and staff!

At last night’s Board Meeting, we had the honor of recognizing many award winners, recognized outgoing trustees for their service and welcomed newly-elected board members.

We started by honoring 84 students and staff for their achievements:

Next, A.J. Pontillo, Place 5; Dianna Sager, Place 6; and Mary Humphrey, Place 7, were recognized for their service. The Oath of Office was then administered to Matthew White, Place 5; Lindsey Sheguit, Place 6; and Darrell Brown, Place 7.

Two GCISD Career and Technical Education partnerships have received awards! The Career and Technical Educators of North Texas (CTENT) honored GCISD CTE and TriVAN Roofing with the Business-Education Partnership Award. Additionally, Tarleton Today, the dual enrollment program that Tarleton State University offers and that will expand to GCISD CTE in 2026-2027, was named the CTENT’s Postsecondary Partner of the Year.

Today is Speech Language Pathologist Day! Our amazing speech language pathologists work with students from age three until graduation in building their fluency, articulation and social skills. We are so grateful to have these talented professionals!

This week, the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation surprised 18 GCISD educators with spring STAR Teaching Grants totaling nearly $35,000! These grants fund projects that benefit students by enhancing existing programs or funding innovative class projects.

What a fun lesson of forces and gravity – an egg drop! That’s what Bear Creek Elementary School did yesterday with the partnership of the Euless Fire Department which brought out their ladder trucks for the activity.

Congratulations to Collegiate Academy’s Class of 2026 on their graduation yesterday! In addition to earning their high school diploma, a remarkable 84% of them also earned an associate degree thanks to a partnership with Tarrant County College Northeast.

This week was Celebrate Freedom Week! Students participated in activities highlighting the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. Constitution and America’s 250th anniversary, including writing Happy Birthday cards to the U.S.A.! Campuses also celebrated with many themed days such as “Forever Red White and Blue,” “Hats Off to Our Founders,” "We The People" jersey day, "Our Futures are Bright Because of Freedom” and more.

Tune in tomorrow to Fox 4’s Good Day show at approximately 10:30 a.m. to see the anchors try out the pizzas that were concepts by GCISD’s Career and Technical Education students in Advanced Culinary. A reminder that the last day the pizzas will be on the Wise Guys Pizzeria menu is Friday, May 15. The winning pizza, based on sales and customer feedback, will remain for a limited time.

Grapevine Middle School Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) students hosted a College Fair last week! After weeks of researching colleges and universities, they invited fellow students and shared their expertise on everything about colleges from tuition to majors to even famous alumni and athletics programs.

Grapevine High School’s Mustang Robotics dominated the Buc Days FIRST Tech Challenge held May 9 in Corpus Christi. Their flawless 7-0 match record secured the tournament championship and a $1,250 prize! FIRST stands for For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology.

Collegiate Academy’s theatre program is statebound and today, the campus gave them a celebratory send off. Join us in wishing them good luck as they head to the UIL 3A One Act Play state contest!

Bransford Elementary School and Dove Elementary School hosted memorable Legacy events last week. Attended by past and current students, families and staff, the events celebrated friendships, traditions and memories of these two special and remarkable campuses.
