Today was Leadership Day! Leaders from across the district came together to celebrate the successes of our students this past school year and collaborate with one another to continue the excellent work in the upcoming school year.

This morning we held another New Hire Orientation for paraprofessionals and auxiliary staff. We continue to see alums returning to our district, including one at today's event. Let’s give them all a warm GCISD welcome!

Applications are now open for the GCISD Communications Internship. If you know a high school student who is interested in photography, videography, content creation or sports broadcasting, encourage them to apply! This team helps to run the cameras and video board during home football games.

Congratulations to Hunter Somerman, 2026 Colleyville Heritage High School graduate, for finishing in the top 10 at the Family, Career and Community Leaders of America national competition in Washington DC last week! Led by Culinary Arts Instructor Kaylie Kotecki and through the district’s Career and Technical Education, Hunter competed in Food Innovations against more than 80 teams and received a gold medal. Exact places of each of the top 10 winners will be announced in the coming weeks.

We kicked off the week with a New Hire Orientation for our new paraprofessionals and auxiliary staff. A huge shoutout to our incredible Human Resources department for setting our newest team members up for success.

This morning, the district’s Human Resources hosted another New Hire Orientation for professionals, which included three GCISD alums! Join us in giving all of them a warm welcome to GCISD.

Our talented coaches have some exciting camps lined up for the month of July. From baseball to basketball to football to strength conditioning to volleyball, we have a camp for students of all ages and interests.

Huge shoutout to GCISD bus driver James Hethcock for winning second place in the transit bus division at the School Bus Driver International Safety Competition held June 27 and 28 in Austin! After winning first in his event at the Texas School Bus “Roadeo,” James advanced to international where he competed against the best drivers from the United States and Canada, showcasing the incredible skill and dedication of our transportation team. We saw a lot of smiling faces at today’s New Hire Orientation for professionals, including one Colleyville Heritage High School graduate. Welcome on board to GCISD!

Additional projects funded by the 2024 Bond are underway across the district this summer, including campuswide piping replacement at Colleyville Heritage High School and installation of a commercial culinary space for the GCISD Career and Technical Education program. Work at Grapevine High School involves extensive roofing, HVAC work, mechanical upgrades, kitchen improvements and safety and security upgrades. Projects are also happening at Colleyville Middle School, Bear Creek Elementary, Glenhope Elementary, Grapevine Elementary, O.C. Taylor Elementary, Timberline Elementary, and the Facilities Services building.
