The following letter from Superintendent Dr. Brad Schnautz was shared with GCISD parents and staff on Friday, October 24, 2025.

GCISD Family,

The Education Master Planning Committee (EMPC) is now meeting weekly as they work diligently toward a recommendation for the district's long-term sustainability.

The committee is thoroughly exploring all options, analyzing data and information. We understand that the decisions being made are difficult, and we want to assure you that the committee is committed to making the best possible decision for the district as a whole. We know this will likely have an impact on every member of the GCISD family, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding during this process.

As the committee works toward a final recommendation, we also wanted to provide an avenue for our community to contribute creative ideas for the district’s future. Earlier this week, we opened a Community Solutions Input Form to gather innovative ideas that can help GCISD reduce operational costs and potentially increase revenue. While the district must make necessary structural changes to address significant financial challenges and operational inefficiencies, we must also pursue new, creative solutions to ensure a truly sustainable path forward.

In our continued commitment to keeping you informed, we have recently added a number of new meeting documents to the EMPC section of the GCISD website. Please visit the Education Master Planning Committee page on the district website to view the latest meeting documents, additional answers to frequently asked questions, and understand the scenarios under review.

We remain grateful for the dedication of our EMPC members and the thoughtful engagement of our community as we navigate this challenging but necessary process together.

Thank you,

Brad
