GCISD is proud to celebrate the students, and their teachers, who have achieved the district’s highest number of Advanced Placement Exams earning a 3 or higher in the past 15 years!
A record 82.6% of the 4,304 Advanced Placement (AP) exams taken by GCISD students in May 2025 earned a score of 3 or higher. An AP Exam score of 3 or higher is recognized as an indicator of college readiness, with the maximum score being a 5.
The preliminary results, which the College Board released on July 7, 2025, show 3,554 exams taken by GCISD students scored a 3 or higher in 2025 as compared to 2,539, or 66.2%, in 2011 when the district began tracking the data. Results also show a continued upward trend in GCISD during the last three-year period with 13% more exams scoring in the higher ranges of 4 or 5, while at the same time a 13% decrease in scores in the lower 1 or 2 ranges.
AP exam scores can earn students college credit before they enter college, saving families time and money. According to the College Board, most AP students who enroll in four-year colleges start school with some credit. An “AP” course on a high school transcript also shows colleges that a student is motivated to succeed and taking the exam demonstrates a commitment to tackle and complete college-level work.
Congratulations to all GCISD students and their teachers on this record district achievement!
