GCISD has been honored as one of the Best Communities for Music Education for 2025. Only 935 school districts across the nation received this year’s distinction which celebrates outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students, and community leaders who have made music education part of a well-rounded education.
“This recognition is a celebration of our entire GCISD community,” said Director of Fine Arts Dr. Paul Sikes. “It is a testament to the unwavering dedication of our students, the support of our leadership and community who champion the arts, and the passion of our music educators who give their time and talents to ensure our music programs are second to none.”
To qualify for the Best Communities designation, GCISD answered detailed questions about funding, graduation requirements, music class participation, instruction time, facilities, support for the music program and community music-making programs.
The award is presented by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation. Learn more about the award by visiting NAMM’s website.
