Texas State Goal for Services for Gifted and Talented Students 

"Students who participate in services designed for gifted/talented students will demonstrate skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research, and communication as evidenced by the development of innovative products and performances that reflect individuality and creativity and are advanced in relation to students of similar age, experience, or environment. High school graduates who have participated in services for gifted/talented students will have produced products and performances of professional quality as part of their program services," (Texas Plan, 2009).

The Texas State Plan for Education of Gifted and Talented Students 

According to the Texas Education Agency, the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted/Talented Students, "forms the basis of G/T services and accountability."

GCISD GTAC:  Gifted and Talented Advisory Committee

The GCISD Gifted and Talented Advisory Committee (GTAC) is composed of all stakeholders:  administrators, teachers, parents, and community members. Student voice is garnered through various methods as well.  GTAC utilizes many sources of information, including annual surveys, to analyze in collaboration toward continuous improvement of GCISD GT Program Services.  Ad hoc committees are formed as needed.

Community Awareness

Parents and community members are given the opportunity to develop an understanding of and support for GT service options through campus and district websites, campus/district events, and teacher communication.

School Board Awareness

School Board members receive updates regarding program services developments via board updates and presentations.
