Mission and Responsibilities

The vision of GCISD is to inspire, encourage and empower students to achieve their full potential in a global society. Through the district mission, GCISD strives to be THE BEST, Building Excellent Schools Together. The district will promote good citizenship and prepare, motivate and encourage each student to reach his or her full potential within a safe, caring, cooperative environment by providing an effective and enduring education.

The Diversity Advisory Council (DAC) will facilitate the district’s mission by contributing to the purposeful education of staff, students, and community members in developing and maintaining a school climate that promotes tolerance, respect, safety, and self-worth.

The responsibilities of the DAC include providing and developing leadership in the following areas:

  • Promote diversity and inclusion by suggesting strategies, activities and educational resources;

  • Communicate recommendations, input, and feedback to the GCISD Administration and Board of Trustees;

  • Advance the message and purpose of DAC through the appropriate avenues at each campus and through the community advancing inclusion.

If you have questions about GCISD's Diversity Advisory Council, please contact Dr. Kalee McMullen, Executive Director of Instructional Leadership, by email at kalee.mcmullen@gcisd.net or by phone at 817-251-5935.
