Mustang Panther Stadium Update (Sept. 18)

Dear GCISD Community,
On September 6, I shared with you that we would be playing football at Mustang Panther Stadium on September 28 and October 5. Unfortunately, the amount of rain we have received over the last 20 days and the possibility of rain in the forecast will further delay the opening of the stadium.
We had every intention of playing these games in Mustang Panther Stadium beginning with September 28; however, we are also committed to providing the necessary time to complete the stadium to the highest quality. In order to provide construction crews uninterrupted work time to make further progress, we are proactively moving the next four home games. The amended schedule is as follows:
- Friday, September 28: Colleyville Heritage Panthers v. Newman Smith High School - Game will be played at Dragon Stadium at 7 p.m.
- Friday, October 5: Grapevine Mustangs v. Birdville High School - Game will be played at Coppell Stadium at 7:30 p.m.
- Friday, October 12: Colleyville Heritage Panthers v. Denton Ryan - Game will be played at Dragon Stadium at 7 p.m.
- Friday, October 19: Grapevine Mustangs v. Newman High School - Game will be played at Pennington Field at 7 p.m.
I understand how disappointing this news will be, especially for our students, staff, parents and community. I want to reassure you that we explored every option and worked tirelessly in an attempt to move forward as planned. It is our hope that by providing additional uninterrupted work time, we will be still able to play football this season in Mustang Panther Stadium. We will continue to monitor the weather and construction progress and will provide you with an update in October on the plan for the remainder of the 2018 varsity football season.
