GHS and St. John Win Back-to-Back State Titles

For the second consecutive year, the Grapevine High School boys cross country team won the Class 5A State Championship at the UIL State Cross Country Championships at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock.
In addition to the team’s triumph, GHS senior Walker St. John won his second consecutive individual state title, taking the gold medal with a time of 15:06.6. He wasn’t the only GCISD student-athlete on the podium as Colleyville Heritage High School sophomore Allie Love finished in second place, earning her silver medal in a time of 17:21.4.
Love led a CHHS girls team that placed fourth in the team standings, finishing just one place away from the medal stand. The GHS girls team also competed at the meet taking home a seventh-place finish.
In addition to St. John’s top finish, Trey Leathers and Josu Granados also finished in the top-10, taking fourth and seventh, respectively.
