At its March regular meeting, the GCISD Board of Trustees approved the hiring of Craig Civale as the new Chief Communications Officer.

Civale has been a professional communicator for 25 years, first as a journalist in many of the top markets across the country, and for the last decade, he has been sharing stories from two of the most recognized institutions in North Texas.

Civale currently serves as the Senior Manager of Digital Channels and Content Strategy for the Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport. He leads a team that is responsible for producing communications and content shared across various platforms for DFW Airport. This includes all large-scale projects, internal and external communications, and crisis communications.

“I moved to Grapevine 15 years ago because it offered my children the best opportunity to learn and grow,” Civale said. “I'm excited to now be part of the team working to communicate the amazing things happening here in the District.”

Prior to his time at DFW Airport, Civale spent six years as the Media Relations Manager at Baylor Scott and White Health in Dallas. He served as the primary media contact for Baylor University Medical Center Dallas, which is the flagship hospital for the largest nonprofit health system in Texas. In his time there, he received the Baylor Scott and White President’s Service Excellence Award and the Baylor Scott and White Achievement award for his work.

Civale also spent over 15 years as a reporter in some of the country’s largest markets, including WFAA-TV in Dallas. He covered stories from all over the metroplex and earned multiple Emmy nominations over the years.

Civale is a veteran of the United States Army and he earned a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Emerson College in Boston in 1996.

“Craig Civale has a proven track record of success in communication and engagement,” said Superintendent Dr. Robin Ryan. “His background provides a unique perspective that will help GCISD as we continue to strengthen and enhance our communication across multiple platforms."
