Each year the Texas Association of School Boards recognizes businesses and community groups who are outstanding supporters of Texas public schools to highlight their good work done to benefit students and their schools. In 2014, TASB initiated the Business Recognition Program. By recognizing those who are standing up for public schools each year, TASB hope to express appreciation to those who deserve it and also encourage others to stand up and help.
GCISD is recognizing three outstanding school partners in 2017, Mike Davis State Farm, Schroeder Orthodontics and the Grapevine Chamber of Commerce Women’s Division.
Mike Davis State Farm is a long time supporter of GCISD, having served on the board of trustees for twenty years, including three years as board president.
Through the years, Mike Davis has been a contributor and supporter of the Grapevine Colleyville Education Foundation, of which he is a founding director. He has also contributed to GCISD athletics, band, fine arts and many other district programs.
Dr. Jesse Schroeder of Schroeder Orthodontics has been one of the Grapevine-Colleyville Education Foundation’s official corporate sponsors and supporter of GCISD. He has made a five year, $100,000 commitment to the Foundation that includes five $1,000 teacher’s grants awarded to an elementary teacher in each grade, first through fifth, each year. Denise Day with Schroeder Orthodontics was on hand to receive the recognition for Dr. Schroeder.
The Grapevine Chamber of Commerce Women’s Division plays a critical role in the annual Back To School Fair. Each year the Women’s Division holds several fundraising opportunities to raise approximately $30,000 to buy school supply packs for our economically disadvantaged students. This support of GCISD goes goes back more than three decades. Through the years the Women’s Division has sponsored such events as the New Teacher’s Luncheon and Teacher of the Year. The Chamber Women’s Division volunteers donate untold hours each August to staff the Back To School Fair, where they hand out school supply packs to more than one-thousand families annually.
On hand to receive the recognition representing the Grapevine Chamber Women’s Division were Chair Susie Howell, Past Chair and Vice-Chair and Education Foundation CEO Janice Kane.
GCISD thanks the Chamber Women’s Division, Schroeder Orthodontics and Mike Davis State Farm for all they have done and continue to do for GCISD and public education!
