Current Colleyville Heritage Principal Dr. Lance Groppel has been named the next GCISD Executive Director of Instructional Leadership overseeing secondary campuses. Trustees approved the recommendation during its regularly scheduled Board meeting on Monday, April 27.

“As the Executive Director of Instructional Leadership, Dr. Groppel will have the opportunity to grow and develop campus leaders across our secondary campuses,” said GCISD Superintendent Dr. Robin Ryan. “We are excited about his new role as it will allow his leadership to extend across the District.”

Dr. Groppel has been the principal at Colleyville Heritage since 2016 after joining the campus as an associate principal in 2015. During his tenure he has collaborated to develop student leadership and student voice as a more prevalent part of the campus, increased student performance and participation in AP exams, collaborated to develop stronger instructional practices campus-wide and was a strong supporter of extracurricular and academic programs across the campus. His classroom experience began in 2006 and includes special education, health, U.S. History and coaching football and baseball.

“I am grateful for my years at Colleyville Heritage High School and I am excited to work with all secondary campuses in GCISD to continue to have the BEST schools in Texas,” said Dr. Lance Groppel.
