GCISD Now Closed Through April 3 as Governor Abbott Issues Order

Yesterday during a press conference, Governor Greg Abbott announced a Public Health Disaster in Texas due to COVID-19 - the first of its kind in the state since 1901. As part of the order, he announced all schools will be closed through April 3 to help prevent the spread of disease. All school-sponsored events and activities will be canceled during this time period as well.

GCISD joins other districts across the state in complying with the declaration and extending our current closure through April 3 at which time state and health department officials will reassess the situation. You can read more here.

Video Message from Chief Technology Officer

Click to view a special video from GCISD Superintendent, Dr. Robin Ryan, and Chief Technology Officer, Kyle Berger.

Throughout GCISD's closure, the District will continue to provide videos that will help the community understand more about what is happening during this unique time.

GCISD Mobile (Hotspot) Internet Update

As students are picking up devices this week and requesting hotspots, we are gaining a better understanding of needs to address in order to reach our goal of connectivity. We appreciate all of those who have completed the survey regarding home internet access.

At this time, we have reached our current mobile hotspot capacity. We are working with our internet providers to be able to administer more assistance to our GCISD students. When hotspots become available, we will work directly with campuses to address the needs of our families.

Learning@Home: Week 2 Information Coming Soon

NOTE: Information for Week 2 of Learning@Home will be forthcoming. Be sure to check for an email on Monday morning from the District.

During this unprecedented time, GCISD is committed to providing remote, age-appropriate opportunities using the district’s learning resources. During the week of March 16-20, the focus has been on two things: Connectivity and Learning@Home.

We ask that all students visit the Learning@Home site to find initial resources that have been collected for the benefit of students and families. If you have specific questions about Learning@Home, please contact us at learning@gcisd.net.

Skyward System Maintenance

Please be aware that GCISD's Skyward system will undergo maintenance from Saturday at 7 p.m. until Sunday at 7 a.m. During this time, Skyward Family Access will be unavailable. Thank you for your patience.

Social Distancing

Within Governor Abbott's announcement today there was an order issued that, "In accordance with the Guidelines from the President and the CDC, every person in Texas shall avoid social gatherings in groups of more than 10 people."

It is important that during this time we all practice social distancing - reducing close contacts between people to slow the spread of infections or diseases. For more information visit this resource on social distancing.
