August 17th Service 
The below outlined services will be available on Monday, August 17, but with these few modifications:

  • Two days of meals will be served (regular service begins on Wednesday)
  • Meals will only be available at campus curbside locations (CTMS, GES, GMS)
  • Meals will only be available for pickup from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Curbside/Mobile Meals Service

Menus: Week of August 5  | Week of August 12

During the 2020-2021 school year, GCISD students attending school in a virtual setting will have the opportunity to receive weekly meal bundles. GCISD will offer curbside (drive-thru) service at the campus locations listed below on Wednesdays from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. GCISD will also offer mobile bus service on Wednesdays at various locations and times listed below.

IMPORTANT: Students who qualify for free or reduced price meal benefits are eligible to receive curbside or mobile meals for free or at a discounted rate. Meals are also available for purchase to those who do not qualify for benefits. Pricing information can be found below.

Things to Remember

  • These services begin on August 19 (details about August 17 service are included above)
  • Parents must bring proof of enrollment in GCISD when picking up meals. This can include:
    • Student ID
    • Student report card
    • Student registration documents
    • Other GCISD documentation
  • Students do not have to be in the vehicle
  • Students do not have to be enrolled at the specific site where meal bundle is picked up
  • Parents will drive to the curb and without getting out of the vehicle show proof of enrollment for all students receiving meals
  • Families wanting to purchase meal bundles can do so with cash, check or through Prices of meal bundles are as follows:
    • Elementary School (PK-5) - $20.75
    • Middle School (6-8) - $21.75
    • High School (9-12) - $23.25
    • Reduced Price (PK-12) - $3.50

About the Meals
Students will be given bags that will include 5 breakfasts, 5 lunches and a choice of chocolate or white 1/2 pint milk (10). There will be a mix of items to refrigerate, to freeze and that are shelf stable. Information sheets will be provided with storage and preparation instructions. Parents must read all information and follow storing, cooking and discarding recommendations.

Nutrition Services Curbside Meals FAQ's

What meals are included?

Meals include a sack breakfast and sack lunch. Meals include a combination of meat/meat alternates, whole grains, fruits, vegetables and skim milk.

Where do I go on campus?

Meals via curbside pick up will be distributed at the main entrance loop at Timberline Elementary and Grapevine Elementary.  Meals at Grapevine Middle will be available at the rear of the building (view the map for details).

How can I get meals?

Families may drive up or walk up to the location on campus where meals are being distributed.

Will you have enough food during the weekly pickup?

Meals will be served while supplies last.

Do children need to be present to receive meals?

Yes. In order to receive meals, all children in the household must be present. Meals will be distributed based upon this.

Do children need to bring their ID?

No. Children will not be required to bring an ID. Meals will be provided to all children who are present that are 18 years and younger.

Can I pick up meals for someone else?

No. Children 18 years and younger must be present to receive meals.

How should I store my meals?

Meals should be stored and prepared following the provided food storage and heating instructions. This can be found on the back of the weekly menu and on the menu posted at the top of this page.

Is the curbside meal service safe?

Team members distributing meals follow all required safe food handling guidelines. Team members are equipped with the appropriate personal protective equipment, including proper face masks and disposable gloves. Team members follow social distancing guidance.

Why is the district serving meals?

Proper nutrition plays a key factor in a student’s health and is critical when maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Are volunteers needed?

Volunteers will be assigned through the Nutrition Services department. If you are interested in volunteering, please email [email protected]. If there is a need for volunteers, we will reach out to you. 

Will the school district lose funding for the child nutrition program and jeopardize this program’s availability for low-income families if participation in curbside meals is low?

The level of participation in the current Seamless Summer Program (e.g. curbside meals) does not determine the future funding reimbursement for the child nutrition program. All children 18 years and younger are eligible to receive meals and are encouraged to participate, if needed, in the curbside meal program.
