Hour Of Code

GCISD is participating in the Hour of Code™, a nationwide initiative by Computer Science Education Week and Code.org to introduce millions of students to one hour of computer science and computer programming. #hocgcisd

Hour of Code™ was launched in December of 2013 to demystify and promote Computer Science. It has since become a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with 1-hour coding activities but expanding to a variety of community efforts. Over 200 million students have participated since its inception. Code.org has surveyed students about whether they agreed with the statement, "I am good at Computer Science." The data shows that the number of students who agree with the statement rose 15% after just a single hour of exposure to coding.

In GCISD, all campuses provide students with opportunities to participate in hands-on and app-based activities.
