GCISD Learning Institute - #GCLI19

The GCISD Learning Institute is an annual, unique opportunity for professional learning in GCISD. Multiple sessions, topics, formats, and collaboration opportunities are designed to help staff start the school year energized, informed, and prepared to meet students’ needs. Staff have the freedom to build their own schedule for the day based on their interests, curiosities, needs, etc.

GCISD utilizes Sched to facility registration for the Learning Institute. Please read the information below, and feel free to watch the provided instruction vidoes for help with registration and creating your schedule. Click the GCLI19 Registration button to register/login.

Required Sessions

For the most part, staff will design their schedule in a way of their choosing. However, in certain cases, a few courses are specified. Please select these in your schedule FIRST, then select other sessions based on your interests/needs that fit around them in your schedule.

  • Stop the Bleed - required for Assistant Principals, and designated Student Resource Officers (SROs), Health Teachers, Athletic Coaches, and Athletic Trainers
  • Chapter 37 Update - required for all Assistant Principals and Principals
  • First Year Coaches Academy - required for all new-to-the-profession athletic coaches
  • Head Coaches Academy - required for all head coaches
  • K - 5 Reading/Writing Units of Study Introduction - required for K-5 ELAR teachers who did not attend summer Units of Study training
  • Palabras a su Paso - required for 2nd-5th SLAR teachers who did not attend summer Palabras a su Paso training
  • Wilson Fundations K-2 - required for K-2 ELAR teachers who did not attend summer Fundations training
  • Words Their Way - required for 3-5 ELAR teachers who did not attend summer Words Their Way training
  • Kinder & 1st: AimsWeb Plus Reports to Guide Instruction - required for at least 2 representatives from each elementary school, one per grade level Kinder - 1st
  • 2nd - 5th: AimsWeb Plus Reports to Guide Instruction - required for at least 4 representatives from each elementary school, one per grade level 2nd - 5th
  • 6th - 8th Math: AimsWeb Plus Reports to Guide Instruction - required for at least 3 representatives from each middle school, one math teacher per grade level 6th - 8th
  • 6th - 8th ELAR: AimsWeb Plus Reports to Guide Instruction - required for at least 3 representatives from each middle school, one ELAR teacher per grade level 6th - 8th
  • (Gr 3) Mathematical Reasoning: A Key to Deep and Transfer Learning - required for at least 1 teacher of grade 3 mathematics per elementary school campus
  • (Gr 4) Mathematical Reasoning: A Key to Deep and Transfer Learning - required for at least 1 teacher of grade 4 mathematics per elementary school campus
  • (Gr 5) Mathematical Reasoning: A Key to Deep and Transfer Learning - required for at least 1 teacher of grade 5 mathematics per elementary school campus
  • (Gr 6) Mathematical Reasoning: A Key to Deep and Transfer Learning - required for all teachers of grade 6 mathematics whose students will take grade 6 math STAAR
  • (Gr 7) Mathematical Reasoning: A Key to Deep and Transfer Learning - required for all teachers of grade 7 mathematics whose students will take grade 7 math STAAR
