GCISD counselors are working to answer questions that families may have about various topics. We will continue to update information on this page as it becomes available.

Continue to contact your counselor during this time. You may also ask questions using Counselors will be checking their email Monday-Friday and responding to email during this time. Students and families should continue to check their GCISD email daily for updates. 

Resources for Parents

GCISD Counselors are compiling resources for you and your family that can be helpful through this unique time. Elementary counselors have also compiled a list of resources specifically for younger children.

Even in the best of times, parenting can be hard. During stressful times, it can be really hard. Know that there is support out there. These agencies, hotlines and websites are available to support you as parents, always and especially in the midst of the chaos and uncertainty of COVID-19.

Family Assistance Resources

The GCISD counseling department is looking at a number of ways to keep parents and students informed about family assistance resources during this extended school closure. This list of family assistance resources includes information regarding short-term financial assistance, emergency transportation, employment/unemployment and much more.

Suicide Prevention
If you, or anyone you know, is in crisis right now:

Knowing this can be a stressful time for some students, we also want to share some talk, text and/or chat resources. If there is something you'd like to talk about, and don't feel comfortable emailing your counselor, please consider reaching out to one of these resources.

Arena Scheduling (Online Arena Scheduling Instructions)

Due to GCISD's closure, the following arena schedule dates have been adjusted.

Dual Credit

TSI Testing Dates for 2020-2021 Dual Credit Students April 10th will be the new TSI testing deadline for Dual students. This date is subject to change and will be updated if needed.

Current Dual Credit Students
Though GCISD is closed through March 27, TCC dual credit students will resume dual credit classes online on March 23. Please check your GCISD and TCC emails for further instructions.

College and Career Planning

The current educational setting is changing not only at the high school level, but also at Universities, Colleges, and Trade Schools. GCISD's GO Centers have compiled some resources for students to use during the closures that will keep them up to date on information, and keep them on track for their future applications.

Scholarships and recommendation letters

Please email your counselor directly regarding any scholarship application or recommendation letter needs. We will be checking emails Monday-Friday during the district closure.

SAT, ACT, STAAR, GT/ASPIRE and Other Assessments

Transcript Requests

All transcript requests will still need to be made via Parchment. Requests WILL be fulfilled during the district closure. Information on placing a request can be found here.

Curbside Meal Pickups

GCISD will provide FREE curbside meals to students during this closure. Read more about this opportunity here.

Due to the social distancing guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, we are not in need of volunteers to help prepare or distribute meals. We certainly thank you for your interest in volunteering; however, we are taking these precautionary steps for the health and wellness of our students and staff.

Summer School Registration

Due to recent school closures, summer school dates will be determined at a later date.
