Services Provided by GCISD Communications

The below outlines products and services the Communication Services Department offers at the District, department or campus levels.
 
Branding and Marketing
Promotion and management of the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD image, identity and messages. 

Board Meeting Recognitions
Coordinate recognition of extraordinary achievements by students, staff and community members at monthly GCISD Board of Trustees meetings.

Campaigns and Projects
Organize annual employee giving campaign involving United Way. Work with State Fair of Texas, Fort Worth Stock Show & Rodeo, etc. to secure and distribute student and employee tickets. 

Community Champions
An annual program that invites 40 community members to take an in-depth look at GCISD through multiple meetings/events throughout the year. Participants learn about LEAD 2.0, school finance and bonds, personalized programs, extracurricular activities and student voice.

Crisis Communications
Strategic planning, news writing, letter writing, editing, proofreading, and media relations for all departments and campuses. 

Email Newsletters
The GCISD Update is sent bi-weekly to more than 20,000 subscribers to announce District news and events in order to promote the GCISD brand among stakeholders. The communications department also designs and distributes the BEST Report for GCISD staff and In the Know for community champions alumni and gold card participants. 

Game Day Experience
Coordinating the Game Day Experience for varsity football games at Mustang Panther Stadium. This includes scoreboard content, on-field recognitions, theme nights and coordination of special events. 

Gold Card
Grapevine-Colleyville ISD residents who are 65 years or older are welcome to join the Gold Card Program at absolutely no cost. Members receive free general admission to all athletic (excluding playoffs), theatrical productions and musical events hosted by GCISD after they attend a short session about the District. Graphic Design (print, electronic, web, multimedia)
Design and layout of advertisements, brochures, flyers, banners, newsletters, public displays, or marketing products for pieces that represent the District. 

Inclement Weather/Emergency Alerts
Announce school closings, early dismissals, etc. using website, The LEADer email newsletter, social media, broadcast media, and text message. 

Logo and Artwork Management
Maintain library of high-quality district and school logos. Work with vendors and employees to provide logo files in needed formats and to encourage proper use of logos. 

Maintain Website Content
Work with staff to publish information on District and school websites, and make changes and corrections as needed. Gather, organize, post, and edit data while maintaining high standards of design and quality. 

Media Spokesperson
The Communications Department approves all visiting media and processes all media queries, news releases, and requests to comply with FERPA. 

News
Writing releases for upcoming District or campus events; publishing news on District website, distribution of news releases to local media. 

Photography
Photograph District, campus, and department events, when possible, upon advanced request. Edit and publish photos on District website and social media channels. 

Public Information Act (PIA) Requests
Complying with Texas Government Code, Chapter 552 and school policy GBA (Legal) to provide documents to requestors. 

Social Media
Manage District social media presences on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, including posting content to achieve brand goals and respond to stakeholders. 

Special Events
Organize and run large special events in coordination with other departments. The largest event of the year for the Communications Department is convocation, an annual event in August to welcome back GCISD staff prior to the school year

Video for the Web
Scripting, shooting, directing and editing of video for promotional or reporting- type pieces (at the discretion of the Communications Department) that will be published on the GCISD YouTube Channel and subsequently shared on the District website or Facebook page. 

Website training and support
Training for new employees on use of public-facing web content management systems. Train campus Website Administrators, as well as provide training opportunities at the Grapevine Colleyville Learning Institute. 

Writing
Proofreading and editing offered to all employees for letters, newsletters, special projects.
