The GCISD Board of Trustees is currently searching for the District's next superintendent. Below is a timeline of updates from the Board. Each date can be expanded to view more information. 

March 27 Update: Superintendent of Schools Contract Approved

GCISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to accept and approve the Employment Contract with Dr. Brad Schnautz as Superintendent of GCISD.

February 27 Update: Lone Finalist Named

The Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Board of Trustees unanimously voted to name Dr. Brad Schnautz the lone finalist for GCISD Superintendent of Schools at its February 27 Regular Meeting.

Dr. Schnautz is currently serving as the Interim Superintendent in GCISD, a role which he began in January of this year following the retirement of Dr. Robin Ryan. Dr. Schnautz has been in GCISD since 2017 as the Deputy Superintendent, leading the pre-kindergarten through 12th grade instructional, athletics, and fine arts programs.

January 9 Update: Superintendent Search Executive Summary

The Grapevine-Colleyville ISD superintendent search began with the facilitation of stakeholder meetings, which included gatherings with community members, parents, teachers, staff, principals, and district leaders. Stakeholder meetings were conducted in-person and by Zoom conferencing to ensure all GCISD stakeholders were given an opportunity to provide input. In addition, a Candidate Profile Survey opened on December 5, 2022, for stakeholders to contribute and offer suggestions regarding the selection of the new superintendent both in English and Spanish. In total, 1,325 responses were received during the 30-day period the survey was open for participation. December 21 Update: Community Input Meeting for the Superintendent Search

Leasor Crass, the superintendent search firm for GCISD, has scheduled another community and key stakeholder input meeting to discuss the Superintendent Search. The event will be held over Zoom on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 and it starts at 6:30 p.m.

December 16 Update: Superintendent Search Survey Deadline Extended to January 3

Leasor Crass, the superintendent search firm for GCISD, has extended the superintendent search survey through noon, Tuesday, January 3.

December 5 Update: Superintendent Search Survey

November 14 Update: Search Firm Updates the Board of Trustees

At the November 14 Board of Trustees meeting, a brief update regarding the next steps in the search for GCISD’s next superintendent was provided by Leasor Crass, the search firm assisting in the process. Next steps include scheduling a meeting with the trustees to establish a timeline, which will include seeking stakeholder input regarding the essential qualities of the next superintendent.

November 7 Update: Leasor Crass Selected as Search Firm

At a special meeting on Monday, November 7, the Grapevine-Colleyville ISD Board of Trustees designated Leasor Crass as the search firm assisting in the selection of the next GCISD superintendent.

Leasor Crass, based in the Fort Worth area, has assisted the superintendent searches at more than 25 school districts. With its selection, the firm will soon work with trustees to set a specific timeline for the selection of GCISD’s next superintendent as well as a candidate profile. Following this process, the firm will accept applicants on behalf of trustees.

The next superintendent will follow Dr. Robin Ryan, who recently announced his planned retirement. Trustees and Dr. Ryan plan to create a smooth transition for his successor.
