Biography

Jorge Rodríguez has been on the GCISD School Board since 2008 and was the Board President in 2012 and 2013. He wants to ensure that the district meets the diverse educational needs of all children in our community. He is passionate about high academic standards, particularly in math and science, which will propel all students to higher levels of college education.

Rodríguez has an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from the University of Puerto Rico, a master's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Wisconsin - Madison and a master in business administration from the University of Dallas. He was a scholar for the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering and the National Consortium for Graduate Degrees for Minorities in Engineering and Science. Rodríguez has worked in the telecommunications, transportation and gaming industries for over 20 years.

Rodríguez has coached youth soccer and basketball teams for the last 10 years. He is a member of SAGE, a parent organization advocating for gifted education, and of READ, a parent-based advocacy group supporting students with dyslexia and related disorders.

Rodríguez and his wife Jill of 23 years have been residents of Grapevine since 1995. They have two children, Jasmine, a freshman at Stanford University, and Julian, a freshman at the Aspire Academy at Grapevine High School.
