Biography

Shannon Braun was first elected to the Board in June of 2021 and is delighted to have been given the opportunity to serve along with her fellow trustees. She served as Board Vice President in 2022-2023. As a Colleyville resident for almost 40 years, she and her family are heavily invested in this community. Shannon’s primary goal as a trustee is to foster academic excellence in our district. It is her hope that bringing a new voice and perspective to this board will help facilitate that goal.

Shannon and her family moved to Colleyville when she was starting 7th grade. She and her husband Bob attended Colleyville Middle School and Grapevine High School, graduating in 1989. They are high school sweethearts and have been married for 28 years.  Shannon attended Texas Tech, transferred, and then graduated from the University of Maryland in 1993. Bob graduated from the United States Naval Academy and served two tours in the Persian Gulf. They have two children, Taylor and Jackson, both of whom are former GCISD students. Taylor then played soccer at the University of Kentucky and University of Texas; Jackson played baseball at the University of Texas and Navarro Jr. College. He currently attends the University of Texas.

The Braun family believes in service to others, and that means finding ways to give back to their schools and community to leave a positive mark. When not attending one of her children’s many sporting events, Shannon has found time to volunteer with GRACE, school PTA groups, chaired events and fundraising for schools, her church, and the local community. Shannon now takes the next step in giving back to this community that she loves -- the community that launched every member of her family into the world and laid the foundation for them to create happy, meaningful, productive lives.

As a diverse group of cities that are brought together with our school district as an anchor, Shannon believes we can forge ahead together to make GCISD the district that is the standard for the state of Texas!
