Grapevine-Colleyville ISD has announced its 2021-2022 Teachers of the Year. Lynette Hollinger, a third-grade ASPIRE Academy teacher at Glenhope Elementary School, has been named the GCISD Elementary Teacher of the Year. Carolyn Province, a marketing teacher at Grapevine High School, has been named GCISD's Secondary Teacher of the Year.

The District’s Teacher of the Year awards were announced in on-campus celebrations on Wednesday, April 21. The winners were chosen from among the 21 previously selected campus teachers of the year.

Lynette Hollinger said the following about her time in GCISD:
"The thing I love most about teaching is witnessing the growth my students undergo each year. Their passion for learning new things always amazes and inspires me. We learn from each other and that is what drives me and continually fuels my love of teaching."

Fellow Glenhope Elementary staff members said the following of Hollinger:
“Lynette goes above and beyond for her students. Not only does she manage to plan every subject for her students in-person and online, but she does it WELL. She is easily one of the best teachers I've had the pleasure to work with in my career. I see her pouring her heart into her work. She analyzes data and changes lessons daily based on student progress. I see her considering her students likes/dislikes, abilities, and preferences in order to design the best experience possible. She is quite the masterful teacher!”

"In her classroom, students have the respect and ability to take charge of their learning. She often includes students in decisions, and allows students to discover their own understanding rather than counting on her as the sole means of gaining information. Students not only have the power to do these things, but because of the environment she creates, they feel safe in doing so. If I were a student, I know I would enjoy being a part of her classroom!"

Carolyn Province said the following about her time in GCISD:
"What I love most about teaching in GCISD are the connections! The positive relationships built with students, colleagues, and community members stem far beyond the reach of the classroom and make coming to work rewarding and impactful."

Fellow Grapevine High staff members said the following of Province:
“Carolyn is a great teacher who plans engaging lessons and supports her students every day. She is the relentless and fantastic department head for CTE. She is also a wonderful DECA sponsor who has gone above and beyond for her DECA students. Carolyn is also a wonderful human who genuinely cares about you and her students, and she is a personal role model of mine for what a great teacher does to be a great teacher.”

"Caroline is a confident, steady, highly capable leader. She has a highly skilled way of identifying trouble areas and providing solutions. She is flexible, supportive, and motivated to help students and her department succeed. She is an amazing department leader for the CTE department."

Congratulations to our outstanding 2021-2022 GCISD Teachers of the Year, Lynette Hollinger and Carolyn Province!
