Tracey La Fara, current Glenhope Elementary School assistant principal, has been named the new principal of Colleyville Elementary School. Trustees approved the appointment during the July 27 Board Meeting.

“We are incredibly fortunate in GCISD to have an incredible depth of teachers and administrators that lead from where they are and ultimately are able to step into leadership roles when a vacancy arises,” said GCISD Superintendent Dr. Robin Ryan. “Tracey is no exception and we are excited for her to have the opportunity to lead our Colleyville Cowboys.”

The search for a new principal for Colleyville Elementary began when Sheila Shimmick assumed the same role at Heritage Middle School.

Prior to joining GCISD, La Fara was a campus instructional teacher, GT specialist, and a classroom teacher in Northwest ISD. After teaching in the classroom, she joined GCISD as the learning liaison for Silver Lake Elementary. In 2017, La Fara moved into her current role as assistant principal of Glenhope Elementary.

“I have loved working with the staff, students, and families of Glenhope Elementary for the last three years,” said La Fara. “While I will miss my GHES family, I am honored and delighted to be selected as the new principal of Colleyville Elementary School. I am looking forward to serving at Colleyville Elementary to support and contribute to the ongoing academic excellence and success the CES community has come to expect.”

La Fara earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma and a Master of Education degree from Lamar University.
