Heather Landrum, former Dove Elementary School student support specialist, is returning to the campus to assume the role of principal. Landrum, who is currently serving as an assistant principal at Grapevine Elementary, was named principal on Monday, June 19 during the regular Board of Trustees meeting.
“During my brief time at Dove Elementary, I was fortunate to experience its rich history of passionate educators, involved community, and amazing students,” Landrum said. “I am thrilled to have the opportunity to return to Dove as the principal to continue the work and success of the campus.”
The search for the next leader of Dove Elementary began in May when Cindy Galloway accepted the role of Associate Director of Curriculum and Instruction with Prestonwood Christian Academy.
Landrum began her career in in Waco as a third-grade teacher in 2001 before moving to Round Rock as a fifth-grade teacher in 2002. In 2005, she moved to Hillsboro Elementary where she taught second-grade. Landrum made the transition to middle school in 2010 when she taught seventh-grade writing at Hillsboro Junior High. During this time she was honored two times by colleagues with the W.F. Doughty Award for Leadership in Education and was named to the employee honor roll for Hillsboro ISD. In 2013 Landrum became an assistant principal at Hillsboro High School where she guided the implementation of a 1:1 iPad pilot program and served as a Schlechty Center Fellow at the Marilyn Hohmann Principals’ Academy.
In 2015, Landrum joined GCISD as a student support specialist at Dove Elementary before moving to Grapevine Elementary as an assistant principal in 2016.
“As a candidate campus for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Programme, Dove Elementary needs a strong leader with a vision who can help them achieve IB status,” said Dr. Robin Ryan, GCISD Superintendent. “I am confident that Heather will help Dove as they continue the progression towards IB status by relying on her experiences both in the classroom and in campus-level administration.”
Landrum has a bachelor's degree in education from Abilene Christian University and a master of arts with an emphasis in curriculum and instruction from the University of Texas at Arlington.
