Dear GCISD Community,
Like many of you, I have spent the last several days thinking of and praying for those affected by Hurricane Harvey. The images that I have seen are devastating and I can hardly imagine what those victims must be going through. While the total impact has yet to be determined, it stands to be sure that many have lost their homes and their belongings. There is nothing that we can do to repair the pain that comes with losing one's home; however, I believe that we can come together as communities to offer support, supplies and prayers for those affected by Hurricane Harvey.
Texas Monthly published an article that details ways to help Hurricane Harvey victims. Additionally, the National Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster has a list of organizations that welcome volunteers and/or donations. Over the next several days, I imagine there will be some local efforts within GCISD to provide support, supplies and donations to Harvey victims. As this information becomes available, we will share it on the district website and on social media with the hashtag #GCISDHelps.
Please continue to keep those affected by Hurricane Harvey in your thoughts and prayers and thank you in advance for your support for these families.
