In 2018, GCISD established Esports at both Grapevine and Colleyville Heritage High Schools with an initial year taking 75 Esports athletes to competitions. The growth of the Esports program has now doubled both in the in student athletes and campus locations.
Esports provides more opportunity to all students within GCISD. During the initial year of the program, 70% of the Esports athletes did not participate in any other campus activity prior to that year. The power of Esports and the GCISD program goes beyond just the game as it prepares students for a growing industry as while building skills in the areas of Communication, Collaboration, Creativity, and Critical Thinking.
As GCISD looks to grow this opportunity to more students, we invite sponsors or in-kind donations to help offset the cost for students to participate. Every dollar donated goes to the Esports program and can be designated to a campus of choice or the program overall. Donations to GCISD Esports will be used to offset the cost of student participation in leagues, tournament play, as well as equipment unless otherwise noted in the contribution.
