Witt Jr. Earns Gatorade’s Top Award

Colleyville Heritage High School graduate Bobby Witt, Jr. has been named the 2019 Gatorade Male High School Athlete of the Year. He joins a list of former winners that includes LeBron James and Kyler Murray.
Recently the No. 2 overall selection by the Kansas City Royals in the MLB Draft, Witt capped his high school career by leading CHHS to the UIL 5A State Championship. As a senior, he hit .482 with 15 home runs and 55 RBIs.
Witt was first named the Gatorade Texas Baseball Player of the Year, then the Gatorade National Baseball Player of the Year and has now been chosen as the overall Gatorade Male Athlete of the Year from among the pool of 12 national award winners in their respective sports.
He, as well as the female winner, was honored at a ceremony in Los Angeles, will walk the red carpet at the ESPYs award show and will be honored during the show.
