STAAR Academy - Accelerated Instruction (AI)
Grades 5 & 8
Purpose: The purpose of the STAAR Academy is to provide an intensive, targeted acceleration for fifth and eighth-grade students that did not pass the STAAR Math and/or STAAR Reading test.
This four-hour model focuses on best practices in math and reading acceleration. Whole group and small group instruction, along with individual acceleration will take place daily. Ongoing assessment will provide continuous monitoring of student progress.

Hours: 8 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Location: Grapevine High School
Tuition: None
Course Offerings: Grade 5 & 8 reading and/or math acceleration for students that did not pass the STAAR test.

Registration: Parents will register their students for STAAR Academy on a first-come, first-served basis after being notified by home campus school administrators or counselors.
Transportation: Bus transportation will be provided for students at no charge. A bus schedule will be announced at a later date.
STAAR Academy Guidelines:
- Students are required by TEA to receive an intensive, targeted reading and/or math acceleration program if they do not pass the Grade 5 and 8 STAAR tests.
- Students eligible for STAAR Academy are provided acceleration in preparation for subsequent STAAR exams.
- Students will be properly dressed and groomed according to the GCISD standards of the regular school term.
