Assessment Department 

The Assessment Department serves the District and stakeholders by collecting, evaluating, and disseminating information that allows for informed decision-making and supports personalized learning in GCISD. One primary function of the department is to ensure that accurate, timely, and relevant data are available to measure student achievement, guide differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students, and promote institutional effectiveness.

The Assessment Department provides the following services:

  • Coordinating local, state, and national assessments

  • Monitoring state and federal accountability issues

  • Providing ongoing student program evaluations

  • Facilitating the continuous improvement process at both the campus and district level

  • Supporting research efforts (Administrative Regulation Administering Surveys to Students and Staff)

  • Training and development of professionals in the formative assessment process

  • Providing data for and participating in data team conversations
