Frequently Asked PAT Questions
When will PAT classes begin this year:
PAT classes will begin the week of September 4, 2006. During this week, we will have short "Get to know you" classes with each grade level to prepare binders and take up supplies. One exception is 5th grade since there will be a holiday for Monday (Labor Day) their normal PAT day. Fifth grade will begin meeting on Sept. 11th for the full two and one-half hours.
What does PAT stand for?
PAT is an acronym for Program for Academically Talented?
Who attends PAT?
Students in grades 1-5 who apply and meet district criteria attend PAT once a week.
When do students apply for PAT?
Nominations for PAT begin in March usually after spring break.
How can a student qualify for PAT?
GCISD assesses students in four areas. Students may be allowed to participate on a "Trial Placement" basis if qualifying scores are met in 3 of 4 areas.
