September Meeting Notes Barn Cleanup Must participate if you have an animal at the barn. Only need to sign up for 1 day a week Parents of students with animals at the barn will be assigned a day to supervise during barn cleanup. If you need to change days for October, let Mrs. Bufe know by September 15.
Picnic September 25 at Bob Eden Park in Euless @ 6:30 PM Big thanks to Bone Daddies for donating the meat and vegetables Please sign up to bring tea, water, lemonade, bread/buns, relish and chips Need chafing dishes See Mrs. Feemster to sign up to bring an item Silent auction gift baskets would be greatly appreciated If it is raining, check the website for location. We will meet, rain or shine.
Financial 2 water troughs have been bought with donated money Need to sell a few more shirts to break even $550 in hay money $279 in the general budget Selling Dippin dots at Goblin Day -2 or 3 parents are needed to help supervise on Goblin Day….let Mr. Burton or Mrs. Bufe know if you can help

Vet Visit- September 25 Heifers should be tied up by 3:30 PM Lambs need to be in 1st pen on the right if they are going to HOT Health Certificate cost will depend on number of animals (split barn call & sheet cost) Money must be collected before the vet will look at your animal-Make checks payable to Friends & Family Vaccinations for heifers are $5 - Dr. Anderson recommends 3 …IBR, Lepto, Black Leg - Check your email to make sure your animal will be getting the correct vaccinations
Hoof Trimming · Tentatively set for Tuesday October 2nd. Cost is usually $25
East Texas Fair & Rodeo · Check with Mr. Burton if you need your papers or a copy of the health certificate Visit the website for schedule http://www.etstatefair.com/livestock
State Fair of Texas Exhibitors Get your heifer’s papers & a copy of the Health Certificate from Mr. Burton before you leave - Highlight the animals that are in your trailer Be sure you get your cattle release when they check your papers Lock up everything you want to keep See Mrs. Bufe to get your passes Read the rules that deal with junior exhibitors (a lot of changes from last year) - Your actions can get the whole chapter banned.
Heart of Texas Fair & Rodeo Schedule is available on our FFA website for the Lambs and American Heifers Please see Mrs. Burton if you have any questions Livestock judging contest is Saturday October 13th at 7:30 AM in the Main Arena -Judging contest is open to all members…you must provide your own transportation -$5 entry fee paid at the time of entry (Can form teams with 3 or 4 members) -Need a pencil, notepad, and clipboard for contest -Judge lambs, goats, steers, swine and heifers -FFA Chapter will present a trophy to the highest scoring GC FFA Member.

Goat & Lamb Validation: · Tags cost $20 Will take place at the GC Ag Barn on October 24
Spring Major Shows & County: · Will sign up in November · Plan on spending about $100 per major show & $30 for county Goats & Lambs can only show at Ft. Worth. The other shows are terminal. -At a terminal show, the animals are sent directly to the meat packers. -Tarrant County Jr. Livestock Show is terminal for lambs, goats, and steers.
Houston Stock Show Hotel Information Make you reservations now if your are showing a heifer there Mrs. Bufe will email out the contract. You are responsible for understanding the terms. You do not have to stay at this hotel. You may make a reservation. 1-800-HOLIDAY OR 713-790-1900 and say that they would like to make a reservation under the Grapevine-Colleyville FFA block and they should have no trouble. If they cannot for whatever reason make a reservation at those numbers please have them call me at 713-576-5073 or send me an e-mail at odelgado@dhmhotels.com
Banquet Information: · Tentatively set for Friday April 25 at Stacy’s Furniture Community Center · Cost is around $25 per person for salad, fajitas, cheese cake, and drink Any thoughts?
